Freaky Friday!

With all the news going on in sports these days:Florida losing it's Head Coach, Indy and Peyton end a slump, UFC 124 is tomorrow. I've decided to not talk about any of them. It's my choice to talk about what I want. and Today we get to discuss the Best Sports movies of all time.

Coach Joe's Top-10 sports movies of all-time





1) Hoosiers (1986) - Based on a true story: Gene Hackman plays Coach Norman Dale, an old coach with a suspicious past, helps the small-town basketball team become one of the best teams in the State.
Best Quote: "Welcome to Indiana basketball."

2) Miracle (2004) - Based on a true story: Kurt Russell as Herb Brooks leads the the 1980 US Hockey team to victory over a much larger, faster Russian team.
Best Quote: "Great moments are born from great opportunity... " (much too long for me to type all of it. If you want to know the rest, WATCH THE MOVIE)

3) A League of Their Own (1992) - While men are away at war, Tom Hanks becomes a Head Coach in the new all girls baseball league.
Best Quote: "Are you crying? Are you crying? There is no crying in baseball"

4) Rocky (1976) - Sly Stallone plays a 'nobody' fighter, Rocky Balboa, that gets challenged by a boxing Champion. Balboa doesn't take the chance lightly and gives the champ a run for his money.
Best Quote: "ADRIAN!"

5) Rudy (1993) - Based on a true story: Rudy Ruttiger is a small young man, who's only dream is to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. With very little athletic ability he's going to have to do it all on determination and heart
Best Quote: "You're 5 foot nuthin', 100 and nuthin', with barely a speck of athletic ability..."

6) *61 (2001) - Based on the true story: Yankee great Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris chase Babe Ruth's record of 60 home runs in a single season.

7) Radio (2003) - Based on a true story: Ed Harris takes a mentally challenged boy under his wing, and lets him help look out for the High School football team.
Best Quote: "That's a goo' one"

8) The Blind Side (2009) - Based on a true story: Michael Oher, an under-privileged black kid, is taken in by a wealthy family who help him with school and football skills.
Best Quote: " I said you could thank me later. It's later, Bert"

9) The Natural (1984) - Roy Hobbs was one of the best pitchers around until he gets shot as a young man, only to come back as a great hitter.
Best Quote: "Pick me out a winner, Bobby"

10) Vision Quest (1985) - Louden Swain decides to drop weight to wrestle the best wrestler in his state. His ideas of what he wants to do changes though when a young woman is taken in by his father. Eventually, he gets his priorities back and prepares himself for the toughest match of his careers
Best Quote: "This year, I make my mark"

Ok Vision Quest is probably not the top-10 but I love wrestling...so it gets in!

  1. Dude. A basketball movie number 1??? And stupid Yankee movie? What is wrong with you? Also the Natural is not that good. The book is way better and has a better ending(hint: completeley opposite to the movie ending).
