There will be little controversy this year about who is the best in college football. Auburn and Oregon left little question to the BCS championship game after both teams won today with ease; Auburn over South Carolina 56-17 and Oregon 37-20 over Oregon State.
Auburn, who has been riddled by enough controversy this year to kill a small horse, has now won 5 games against top-25 teams. In those 5 games they averaged 42 points while giving up 26. Showing that their offense is a force to be reckoned with but that the defense will give up points. They've also shown that they have the ability to come back in games when it seemed like their perfect season was about to come to an end (most recently down 24-0 to Alabama and 21-7 to UGA).
Oregon has left little question if they'd be undefeated at the end of the regular season, by dominating every team they've played except Cal. Cal kept the Ducks under 37 points, requiring Oregon to have a punt return to win 15-13. Despite this close game, it's been nothing short of impressive watching the Ducks take apart their top-25 opponents: USC, Arizona, and Stanford.
In the end, on January 10th, we should have a high scoring, entertaining game that will clearly decide who is the best in the country, and decide if Cam Newton can solidify his name as one of the best big-game players in college history. Can Auburn bring a 5th straight BCS Championship to the SEC or will Oregon find a way to do what no one else has been able to and stop Cam Newton?
Prediction: Auburn 45 Oregon 24
